Doctor Who - Cancer Research UK Charity Book ‘Zygon Outer Space Diaries’

The Zygon Outer Space Diaries has been three years in the making! A true labour of love edited by Paul Cooke, the proceeds of all copies sold will be donated to Cancer Research UK , a charity dear to my heart. If you’re a Doctor Who fan, you’ll recognise these shapeshifting aliens, among the very best and most memorable of the Doctor’s enemies. This book takes the Zygons from their original appearance in the TV story Terror of the Zygons and spins a complete narrative of how they came to be interested in the planet Earth, pointing the way to their later appearances in the modern show - all in the style of a British 1970s/1980s Christmas gift annual! That means text stories, comic strips, puzzle pages, informative features and articles on the nature of Zygon culture and all the 70s stylings (and ads) you could hope for.

Paul won’t shout about his monumental achievement in conceiving the project and co-ordinating the various contributions from many professional Doctor Who spin-off alumni, but I will. Holding the finished book in my hands, I’m blown away by the love and care that’s gone into it. If you are a fan of Who literature and print media, please believe me, this is a sumptuous tome you’ll want to add to your library. And, did I mention, it’s for an excellent cause?

Featuring luminaries and fan favourites including Trevor Baxendale, Adrian Salmon, Martin Geraghty, Martin Simmonds, Andy Walker, Smuzz, Andrew-Mark Thompson, Graeme Neil Reid and many others, including yours truly and a plethora of fan talent. My contribution is a short story, The Luck of the Duke of Forgill, which, broadly speaking, is about Mrs. Broton, plus a painting for one of the features. The short story is illustrated by one of the true greats of Doctor Who illustration, Adrian Salmon, well known to readers of DWM.
